Kia COO lauds "stellar September" for Rondo and Sorento

October 2011

Kia cars remained one of Australia's most popular car makers in September with a position in VFACTS' top ten brands.

The automaker reported that its third top ten ranking this year underscores Kia's increasing desirability Down Under.

In particular, Kia highlighted its compact Kia Rondo, which enjoyed a 164.7 per cent surge in sales last month compared to September 2010. Year-to-date growth for the Kia Rondo was recorded at 32.7 per cent.

Earlier this month, the Kia Rondo Si - which has been described by Kia as a "pint-sized people mover - pipped rivals including the Honda Odyssey and Nissan's Dualis ST to the post to win its category at the Wheels Magazine Gold Star Awards.

Tony Barlow, Kia Motors Australia chief operating officer, remarked that other "highlights" for September included the increasing popularity of the Kia Cerato, as well as a "stellar" month for the  Kia Sorento, which has seen year-on-year growth of 196.5 per cent. He said: "It is very pleasing and a clear indication that despite the many challenges facing the automotive industry, Kia continues to perform ahead of the game."
